Privacy Policy

This policy describes exactly what data SportsOwl handles — no more, no less. We’ve written it against what the site actually does, not from a boilerplate template. The short version: we collect as little as possible, the only analytics we run is privacy-preserving and cookieless, and we never sell your data.

What we collect, and who handles it

Your account. You create a free account with Google or your email address (we email you a 6-digit code; there is no password). Accounts are run by Supabase, our database provider. We keep your email address, when you signed up, and whether you are a member. If you use Google, we receive your email address from them and nothing from your contacts or other accounts.

Payment information. Memberships are bought and billed on Whop. Your card details go to Whop and its payment processor; SportsOwl never sees or stores card details. We look up whether the email on your SportsOwl account has an active membership on Whop, and Whop tells us when a membership starts or ends. That is all we learn.

Email list (only if you ask). If you submit the “get notified” email form, your email address is sent to our own server, which passes it to Beehiiv, our newsletter provider, so we can email you about launch and updates. Nothing loads from Beehiiv in your browser, and if you never submit the form, nothing is sent.

Theme preference and sign-in. Your light/dark choice is saved in your browser’s localStorage (a key named so-theme) so the site remembers it. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. When you sign in, your session is kept in localStorage too (so-auth), and sent only to our own servers to load your picks.

Aggregate usage analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand our traffic — things like how many people visit, which pages they view, and how often a few buttons are used (such as sign-up and join), never with your email or any id attached. It is cookieless and uses no localStorage; it does not collect personally identifiable information, does not fingerprint your device or browser, and is never used for advertising. The data is aggregate — it tells us “this page got N views,” not who you are.

Advertising and tracking

Aside from the aggregate analytics described above, SportsOwl runs no advertising and no session recording, and does not build behavioral or cross-site profiles of you. There are no ad pixels and no third-party ad or marketing trackers. We do not sell or share your personal data with anyone.

Our analytics set no cookies. The only cookie is a functional one for members (so_member, holding just “1”) so the page lays out the members’ list before it loads. The newsletter form is native and loads no third-party embed, so it sets no cookies. These exist to make those features work, not to track you around the web.

Deleting your account or data

To delete your account, or to request that we delete your personal data, email sportsowlpredictions@gmail.com and we’ll take care of it. To unsubscribe from emails, use the unsubscribe link in any email from us, or ask us at the same address.
